I won't be posting every project, but since these are test playfields and my site ismn't up yet, why not...

Mrhide gave me this semi-populated Gottlieb Jungle Queen playfield, wanting a quick touch-up around the inserts and a clearcoat. He did a few touch-ups but since I have to wash the playfield, I redid them.

... And sorry Phil. You suck at touch-ups.   

So basically, I took the playfield, put it in a box to protect the mechanicals on the underside, removed any last hardware, and scrubbed it for 45 minutes with magic erasers and alcohol. Once done, I retouched it all. Lots of work on the flowers at the base of the pop bumpers, as well as in front of the kickout holes, and all the inserts. There was a lot of swirl marks everywhere. All I have left to do now is touch up any green (I didn't have any... gonna go buy some). The rest looks very good now. Take a look:

So it is done! It looks very nice now! Nice and glossy, but I did run into the same problems as Sinbad. I probably didn't scrub enough with naphta and I have 2 trouble spots.

Now, considering Phil wanted me to simply clear it, it is way better this way. But if he feels that it needs correction when he sees it, I will fix it. But otherwise, very nice.

The good:
- apart from the purple (like Sinbad), color match is very good. I will have to darken my purple a bit.
- Nice and glossy.
- the black insert circles are perfect... and I did them free-hand with a small brush and a needle at times. I found it easier!!!

The not-so-good:
- I have 2 spots wher some fisheyeing popped up. One is corrected, other is a bit rough. I will let Phil decide if he wants it corrected or not. But it will never wear or cause funky ball travel.
- Insert edges can still be felt as the wood wore a bit due to sunken inserts, but considering he didn't want me to level them and glue them in, and I did anyways, I don't think he will mind! But I will develop a technique soon to correct this. Easy enough.
- I have to remove it from the damn box and reassemble what I took off to clear it easier.

1- I took them after hauling it upstairs... heavy with the box.
2- Not as bad in direct site
3- you only see it with a reflection
4- 4 coats!!!!

OK... just finished reassembling the switches, removed all the foam plugs from the light sockets and reassembled the ball kickers.

Well, an extra coat after cleaning and sanding helps, but from now on I will scrub more and use some fisheye inhibitor to prevent any problems.

Well she's back up and it only took a day off to do it!  (US thanksgiving)!
