There is also Midway Family Fun Park on the corner of St.Laurent and Lancaster (right beside the museum of Science and Technology). They mainly have vids (actually a lot of vids), but they usually have at least one pin there.

It's not 'that' one... the one at the bowling place is an 'infamous' Henry Amusements special... you get multiball and the game resets and/or tilts for no reason.

Add to that a 12-degree pitch (helped with 2"x4" on the back legs) and you're in for the money!

The last time that I was there, a little pizza joint called Uncle Bucks, where Teron Road extends south across Campeau, had two pins.  A Demolition man and the other one I wasn't paying attention to at the time.  The wife was with me and she wasn't about let me at the pins during our summer evening walk.

They have really good chocolate milkshakes.  The pizza sauce is a little plain for my taste, other wise the pizza is really good.  The brothers that own it (I think it may be only the younger one now) are class A guys, and it's always kind of a welcome place to wait for a pizza, or donairs, and you can play some pinball while you wait.

You guys should lure them in to MAACA seing as how they've found it beneficial to have games in the shop.  I imagine it's an attraction at lunchtime for the kids from Earl of March Highshool just up the street.

Weren't there some machines at "les promenades de L'Outaouais" in Gatineau? seems I tossed a coin into some James Bond pinball machine there, I mean like Pierce Bronson James Bond, or something new school anyway, not sure, I stopped watching after "For Your eyes Only" so I can't be sure.

Seems they had two pinball machines anyway.

Just to add another place to play: Brittania pub at carling and richmond has a Bride of pinbot by Henry which currently tilts if you use anything but your pinky fingers to flip

Merivale Bowling has no pins anymore, neither does Algonquin College but they usually put one in there in September.  Last year it was a No Fear.

The Coin wash on Montreal road in Vanier used to have one but I haven't been there in a few months so it too may be gone.

Sadly there are fewer and fewer locations in Ottawa even since last January when I did a 12 hour "Pincrawl" around the city and hit up 13 locations in one day.  Sadly only 5 of those places have a pin now.  Oh well, motivation to buy more I guess...

Does Henry's sell tables?  I'd consider getting into pins for a bride of pinbot.

Was at Uncle Buck's in Kanata last night.  Plaed Demolition Man.  The also have Judge Dredd, and a PacMan.  ....Man Pac Man cabs are small.

Henry's does sell but their games are beat up and over priced, and he is very rude as well.  Uncle Buck's may be getting a new addition in the near future...  NIB from what I know so far....

Is this location serviced by Midway Amusements? Last time I was in there, I was taking to his son who said that a Family Guy was most likely coming but would go into one of their locations instead of the Funpark(definitely not Midway kid friendly  ). Sounds possible?

I thought it was whatever was left of Great White Amusements that serviced that place? If I am remembering correctly I think it was Geoff telling me about that place when I picked up the Baby Pac from him

That location is serviced by Geoff. I imagine the pins play nice as Geoff is a solid tech and brings them in for servicing. Geoff just got a Shadow. I imagine that will be on location soon.

Just wanted to give an update, Uncle Buck in Kanata now has a Champion Pub along with the Ripley's and the Cinema in Gatineau now only has TSPP but none of the lights on the playfield work and it has an inch of dirt on it so you can't see the playfield art.

Last I was there Uncle Bucks (Kanata) had Champion Pub ( weakish flippers ) and Ripleys (playing well).   Both were clean - and they sell pizza by the slice.

Dropped in to Uncle Bucks on Friday Nov. 30th, They still have the same...  A nice ripley's and an ok champion pub.  Didn't even dare to play the pac-man.......

BTW - Awesome Choc. Milkshakes....  Highly recommend them.   Their pizza is good too, we split a large 1/2 combo 1/2 meatlovers and it was delicious.

They're thinking about putting in a Harley Davidson Pin in the near future.

I never heard of Dooly's before but it just happens I'll be in the area tomorrow afternoon. Guy on the phone there said they have a "Terminator" pinball machine. If there's time I'll stop in. Here's a map of their location, just off St. Laurent between Innes and Smyth Road.

Dooley's is located right behind the McDonalds, in the little mall/warehouse in the back (on the right side), right next to the museum of Technology.

I played the T2 at Dooly's this afternoon. It's 1 credit for 50 cents, 2 credits for 75 cents, or 3 credits for a dollar. 3-ball game, not sure about the other settings.

It's my first time seeing this machine, and it was very dark in the room, so I couldn't tell much about its condition. Seems like the playfield should be better lit. It was dirty but not worn out, mostly working ok. At least one strange behaviour though: sometimes shortly after starting a ball it would say "Don't Move" as if it had drained, but it hadn't... then shoot another ball.

Anyway I can see why people say it's no good as the only pin in your collection. Fun, but not super addictive. After a few games I set a high score and left 4 credits for the next person.

I'd like to play a nice shopped one sometime, in a room where I can see and hear it properly. Probably wouldn't buy it though.

I played a good 20 games on that T2 over a couple pints with a coworker on Friday night.  I had also never played one before and I enjoyed it.......  I like trying for the two ramps to get in to cyberdine (sp?) systems and then to the CPU where you get 5MM every time you hit the gun launch, the gun on the right side is fun too and the hurry up bonus is a real score booster...  Both sling shot plastics are broken but otherwise it was in good shape.  although dirty.  I really liked Arnold's commentary throughout the game...........Oh ya and replay is set at 19MM so we played a good 5 free games and matched a few times as well, good value.

Uncle Buck's now has a Ripley's and a The Shadow. Ripley's was fun, didn't get a chance with the Shadow, my pizza was getting cold.

Found a Dirty Harry in the back of the Local Heroes on Bank Street. Gives 5 balls, and is setup properly. Has an error (dot) but don't know what it is. I got to the wizard mode (Crime Wave) on my second play. $1 for 3 credits. Fun game, why is it not in demand more? The only problem I found was that it was way to easy to start a mode (hence why I got to the wizard mode easily).

The Broken Q on Hazeldean also had a Who Dunnit last time I was in there a month ago, it was fully shopped too so the elevator shots were working accurately.  Had 8B until I lost it ALL on the Roulette wheel.  Finished with 120 M   I Remembered why I got rid of it

Why don't the local operators come on here and advertise the locations of their games? Gotta be worth a few bucks.

I talked to Geoff yesterday about this very same subject.  He has been meaning to register here and update this thread for a while.  I told him that we have been taking care of the for him but that he should still post the loactions he has in the Ottawa Valley ie. Merivale now has a Dr. Who (elevator toy doesn't work, makes it VERY boring), DM (same as before), and a Tee'd Off (didn't play it)

Yeah that Dr. Who Howieson has has seen better days.  Man 3 Pins at Merivale, looks like the locations are drying up if he is putting 3 in one place   Geoff had a nice Dr. Who in Uncle Bucks when he first got that location, I think I got tendonitous in my left arm from hitting that loop shot repeatedly, fun game but it really starts to hurt after 40+ left flipper hits in a row   Almost got that exact machine but the tendonitous made me rethink my decision.  Jim's is coming down in price so you never know though.....

So I was on Merivale this afternoon and decided might as well drop in to the bowling place and play some pin. What a letdown. Dr. Who desperately needs a mechanical overhaul, and can't be heard over the blaring crappy music. I played one game, realized it was impossible to get multiball, blah. Demolition Man was out of order. Someone was playing Tee'd Off, it looked filthy but mostly working, however I didn't wait around to try it.

Sucks to hear the DM at Merivale bowling lanes is busted, it was actually playable.

IMO, the only worthwhile pins in Ottawa to play on route are those operated by Geoff.

Here's the list:
Uncle Buck's Pizza (Kanata, off of the 417): Ripley's Believe it or Not (I really like this game), Simpson's Pinball Party (works great, but the garage sometimes gets stuck halfway)
O'Connor's Pub (Kanata Centrum): No Fear, South Park (so I've heard, haven't been yet)

There was also a dirty Dirty Harry at Local Heroes on Bank Street near Billing's Bridge. It was quite playable, but impossible to hear.

I agree.   Geoff could use locations - so if anyone knows good locations - and can make an introduction I believe Geoff would be interested (vids or pins)....

Medvet and I had been telling him for years that he should join. I didn't beg. Perhaps that was the difference   Glad he is on board. One of the few operators that actually have pins on location that work. I like the handle "workingpins". Nice!

Hey thanks again guys, I will try to keep things up to date as I move games around. Oh I thought you all might want to know about the steering wheel on my truck, it came off a 1982 Atari Pole Position video game, same year as my truck.

Just an FYI, the garage door on your SPP at Uncle Buck's sometimes does not open all the way, this can cause the ball to get stuck behind, requiring a tilt to close the garage.

And your name is what is known as an 'aptonym'.

I knew about the garage door and tried to fix it but unless it is a software issue, I think it is mechanically fine (Is there a common problem/fix with this?).

I also forgot to mention my Getaway in Limoge Inn, Ottawa St. Limoge.

Oh, and Uncle Buck's no longer has a Shadow, it's in my basement now

They should still have a Ripley's though, fun game.

Here is a pic of the Shadow in it's last commercial location, taken by me on March 18 2008 , Replaced by a Simpsons Pinball Party

I knew about the garage door and tried to fix it but unless it is a software issue, I think it is mechanically fine (Is there a common problem/fix with this?).

I fixed the same thing on one of Jim's TSPPs..  I can't remember what the problem was but it was just some tweaking..  Either a bent switch, door, or loose/dirty plunger assembly..

Really? When I was there a couple months ago, they didn't have any pins. Sounds like the machine that was in Merivale Bowling Lanes, I wonder what's there now...

I was just at McCarthur Bowling Lanes last Friday (the only 10 pin bowling in Ottawa), and they still had a Road Show. It plays quite well, had a credit dot until I hit multiball They also now have a Dr. Who, didn't get a chance to play it (not a fan of that game), I wonder if it's the same as the one that was at Merivale.

I played that Ripley a few times with my youngest daughter, while waiting for pizza over the last few weeks.
Good game in good shape. Will check the Frankenstein next time I am at Uncle Bucks.

Cheers,
- Sylvain.

I was at Uncle Bucks tonight.  The switch in the left quarter slot is flaky.  I dropped three and no credits.  I listned for the third one hit the box.  I dropped a nickle after the first too see if the mech was jammed and it returned (sorry, I know that's probably poor practice but it was a good troubleshoot without a key).  I moved over to Simpsons after I got my change from my milkshake.

Thanks for the tip

I have been in there and repaired the game, the coin switch was bad. I played a test game and it plays nice.

Thanks again

Update: No Fear is (retired from the route) no longer at Oconners pub and it is going back to a private home, replaced with a multicade video game. I hate to change a pin for a vid but the owner didn't want/like No Fear anyway and it interfered with the pool table.

So all that's left there is South Park? Ugh. I know it's probably a good earner, but you must have a better game to put there.

Does anyone know where Henry Amusements' Goldeneye is located in the area?

A friend of mine likes the look of it (theme), but would like to play one before he decides to pursue for buying one or not...I just hope they fixed the 'extra ball' problem (or was it intentional??? the switch on the 'extra ball' shot wasn't working, thus you could never get it!)

I know that it used to be at the Promenades cinema, but they only have a Jurrasic Park nowadays.

Played a Stern Playboy at the Broken Cue on Greenbank road. I was the only one in the entire bar you played it that night.
It only takes loonies, but no price is mentioned per game....a guy sitting at the bar told me $1 gets you two games. I went over to it, plopped in a loonie, and noticed I had 6 credits.

This game is trashed by the way....The PF is worn and fading away, no GI light is working on the PF, center lane drop target (I think a drop target goes there) is gone, no sound (may have been turned off), and the DMD is very gassy and hard to read.

However, the cab and BG are nice, and all the toys seem to work well (holy crap there's allot of nudity in this game..I didn't expect that...I thought it was going to be 'silly' like DE Playboy, not a full fledged porn mag)

Anyways, I played 4 of the 6 credits and walked away....I'm sure if it was in better shape I would at least finished the games.
I wonder who owns this game?

Finally.....a NEW PINBALL IN OTTAWA!!!!

Saw The Watchmen at Silver City today. While walking in, I spotted a brand new, still shiney IJ4!

I took a quite look at it and the playfield was still minty fresh. Sadly I didn't get a chance to play it (even had 1/2 a credit when I looked at it) as the folks I was with aren't into pinball.

You could always excuse yourself to go to the bathroom in the middle of the movie   If it's a good one, she'll never notice how long you are gone

I was at Silver City tonight to watch the Watchmen.  There is an IJ4 but it is out of order.  from what I could see all of the games are supplied by Playdium/Starburst.  I guess this might mean that Starburst will try and keep a pin there if they make money.  I will go back later in the week and see if it is fixed.

Well went to see Race to Witch Mountain today with Seb and saw the IJ4 with 16 credits on it before the movie. Got to play 2 balls until he hit the front of the popcorn line. Went back after the end of the movie and the right flipper no longer worked and the left VUK was toast so shut it off .

Definitely a Playdium (Starburst machine). How do they expect to see if pinball can be popular in Ottawa if the game can't even be playable once in awhile . Sheesh!

Anyways, just an update to not waste your time driving there to play for a few more days.

Although I created the map, I don't really want to be responsible for maintaining it. It's rare that I ever play a pin on location. However the map is open for anyone else to modify - please feel free!

Playable Now: Centaur II, Doctor Who, High Speed. Playable Soon: Breakshot, Sorcerer Later: Flash, Genie, Seawitch Fondly remembered: Firepower

Played the IJ4 at Silvercity Gloucester yesterday. They had a "Out of Order" on it, but it seems the only problem was that it was full of coins.

I moved the sign off the glass slyly and played one of the 14 credits it had registered. Sweet game, nice and clean, flippers seemed a bit sluggish. It's sort of hidden in the arcade area, out of you line of sight from the concessions.

I just got home from Silver City.  The IJ4 is broken again.  It seems to be getting a lot of use because the pf is really dirty.  But it seems to be broken everytime I try to play it.  I will check back later in the week and let you know if it is fixed.

This is sooo disheartening. The first new Stern in Ottawa since I started collecting and it can't even last a few weeks before breaking down. No wonder operators don't want pins anymore.

It is actually pretty sad.  There was someone there trying to play it but it just kept trying the find the balls.  He finally got fed up waiting and left.

I think you mean the Coliseum (Carling Ave). I just got back from the Silvercity (Gloucester) and it still has IJ4. It appeared to be working, but I didn't get a chance to play.

Are there any downtown locations to play?

Thanks.

I stopped mapping right before I got to that one, of course.

That's in a perfect spot because I'm staying at the Marriott on Dalhousie. Looks like it's a stones throw away. I'll check it out tonight.

Thanks for the guidance.

-IJ4 is still at Silvercity (Gloucester)...dirty, but working. Must be set to "easy" because I couldn't stop earning free games....got pretty boring.

I had a great meal at the Honest Lawyer tonight. All you can eat from the chicken wing buffet for 10.98. Great flavours and great value. My wife and daughter loved the burgers.

The Playboy has been replaced by an Austin Powers. 3 coin slots and a sign that said 'loonies only'. No other indication re: 3 games for $2. A loonie in slot 1 gave an instant coin return. A loonie in slot said 'thank you very much' and decided not to give me a credit. Same story in slot 3. I gt my $2 back from the bar who suggested that the machines are always buggered and not to feed them any more.

I was there from about 6:15 to 9:45. No one seemed to try the machine before I did, but a couple of folks seemed to have some success after I did. Machine looked to play fine, with strong flippers and lots of action on the playfield toys.

Had to go and try out Corvette.   Very fun - great little pizza place Uncle Bucks - neat atmosphere with the pins and bar stools to eat pizza.    I think your replay is too low if even I can get a replay on Corvette.

Eight Ball Deluxe was fun, too, missed a replay by a long shot, though.

Yes it is mine. I just put it out a couple of weeks ago. so time will tell but I think it is comparable to any other game these days. The pins don't really get played that much anymore. I would love to have more than two pins in a spot but I don't see much interest to warrant that nor do I have a spot to put them.

Today I played a White Water in Gatineau, QC (Les Promenades de l'Outaouais)
Maps: http://maps.google.ca/maps?f=q.....089&t=h&z=17

It's looks that it is the only one inside the shopping mall. The condition isn't good.
- upper VUK is to weak and with a warm up it can happen that you have to wait very long until you get the ball back
- middle hazard is not recognized, so really bad to get a wet willy
- mission lamps not all working
- upper finger angle is adjusted wrong, so is somehow challenging to play the left or right lane
- 3 of 4 outlane lamps for playing millions are not working

Game is 50 cent
Grand champion gives 2 credits
Machine is a little bit slow, that makes it not so mean
2 warnings before tilt, machine is stable and the waring coming moderate
General visible look of playfield OK

The machine comes from Henry Amusements (749-9404) maybe if someone knows the owner.

Conclusion don't waste your money until the VUK is up again!

Today I tested McArthur Lanes (http://www.mcarthurlanes.com/) and found only a TSPP.

For $2 you get 5 games.
Playfield is a little bit dirty, but works well.
Seems that the percentage of math is very high, get some additional games.
The pizza you can get in small building right in front of it is OK

There is now an Austin Powers (http://www.ipdb.org/machine.cgi?id=4504).
Works fine, but has an affinity to the right and is very quick.
$1 per game !

Don't use the right slot for he money, it doesn't work. Or you use it and can talk with a nice waitress  .

The pizza you can get in small building right in front of it is OK

That would be Louis Pizzeria?  They used to have the best pizza in town, do they still write "Welcome" under the pizza? (if you ate it there?)

Yes, maybe yes (I didn't try all in the town  ), and I get a welcome over the pizza

Just went to Merivale Bowling lanes, they had a Judge Dredd and a Baywatch. Both operated by Howison Amusement. Typical of Howison, the game were almost unplayable. The JD had weak flippers, could barely hit the ramps. The left ramp had a bad opto, so couldn't start multiball. The upper left flipper was dead. The Baywatch had very weak flippers, couldn't hit any ramps, but then realized I didn't even want to play the game.

The Local Heroes on Carling Ave in Kanata has a working and relatively clean Demolition Man. The flippers are kinda weak, so it's a struggle to hit the ramps. Set to 5 balls, no regrets one putting my money in.

Yup, I've seen kids playing these games, and turning away without finishing their games.   I think it was Enzo, that said he made a deal where he shopped the game and got to borrow it for a few months.   I wonder if we could work that deal - as those games are in need of some love.  Is Howison the one Ethous helps out from time to time?

The DM at the Local Heroes in Kanta was also Howison, but was actually in playable shape, despite the weakish flippers and switch errors.

I was there again today ( Orleans Bowling Alley ) they still have a Tz that works like a charm, next door in the pool hall they have a Sopranos that works pretty good, and a Corvette that looks like it's fun to play but needs some luv!...

Not bad to have decent games so close to home

... if anyone has a TZ for sale I would be very interested!!!!

I played the TZ today at Orleans Bowling - overall it plays very well (tu fais du bon travail, ethous); however, the upper right flipper is too weak to make the Hitchhiker shot (...still managed to get high score #4 - 690M). Didn't know about the other pins next door - I will need to go back!

The SM at the Coliseum (theatre near Bayshore) is gone (it was turned off lst time I was there) and now there is a WoF in its place. Never played it before - liked it for about two games but now I despise it! The outlanes and the crap in between the fipplers make it an annoying experience!! (IMHO)

The outlanes and "crap" between the flippers are part of what makes WoF one of the best Sterns ever. With a different theme (and finished software) that game could have been really great. But it's the risks Stern took by making the lower playfield a little different that make that game unique and very fun (IMHO).

It's too bad Stern refuses to take more of that kind of risk. There was a time when pinball companies weren't afraid to try something different. Pins from the 40's to the 70's often had non-"normal" lower playfields. Innovation never comes from maintaining the status quo.

(Sorry for changing this thread's direction.)

There is now a White Water at McArthur Bowling. Played a game and everything was running pretty smooth. TSPP was still there, but is out of order.

Local Heroes in Kanata has Demolition Man.  I never had a chance to play it but over all it looked pretty good... except for the JM apron with instructions on how to use the claw.

It works only 'ok'. Many switches are not working so it's impossible to accomplish much.

Carleton U Ice House (Arena) has a Roadshow.  Dirty as hell but DMD is nice, all lights seem to work.  Has a credit dot but overall the game works ok.  Weak left flippers (all 3 so probably dirty opto on flipper board).  Shaker does not work or is turned off.

Did you clean the opto?

I know there's a faulty(over sensitive) switch somewhere I think it's in the hole (skill shot/start city).  The machine was giving me the "spin the wheel" feature.

Just played Dr. Dude at Local Heroes on St. Laurent.
Flippers were a bit weak, but it was definitely playable.
Best part was pricing, 1$ for 3 credits with 5 balls a game.

No actually IJ4 looks and plays like new. I couldn't believe it myself as most "regent" maintained machines are poorly maintained. Their tech Alex did a great job on it, too bad they don't take care of their other machines like that. I went and played Appolo 13 today at Don Gamble and it played perfect as well. It was dirty though and had a couple lights out. Also played Who Dunnit at Merivale Bowling Lanes and it looked and played like new (the best shape I have ever seen a Howison game in). I found Who Dunnit pretty boring however and managed to get all 4 Hi-scores and Roof champion in my first 4 games, not very challenging as I am not the best player.

Played Wheel of Fortune at the Colliseum and it plays perfect but is very dirty. Also went to McArthur and played Whitewater and Golden Eye. WW has a problem with the top ball eject as the ball comes out after 10 tries and screws up the ball sequence, needs to be repaired asap. Golden Eye was playable but the left flipper is kinda weak. Back glass display is starting to go as well.

Tried the 2 at Orleans Bowling Alley tonight. TZ was dirty and the left flipper is %?#** up. TSPP has a busted plunger. Says 5 credits for $2 and I only got 4. Repairs needed!!! Went to UB this afternoon and Geoff's Monopoly and JM were in great shape.

Played dr dude at local heroes (after being misinformed about a lotr at lazerquest) and the flippers are far to weak to make the ramp. After 10 direct shots up the ramp I finally got it. You have to work up some momentum for sure! I kept winning free games, and not being one to pass on free pinball, reluctantly kept playing. I took off with 3 or 4 credits left on the machine (let someone else get trapped in mediocre, poorly maintained pinball)

Anyone know where lotr went?

Dirty, upper flipper is WEAK, inserts in mansion are a bit raised, other than that, seemed to play ok.

That is Rochs machine from Henrys Amusements. I wish he took better care of his pins, you can't even make the side ramp shot with that flipper.

Played Maverick at Vanier coin wash, DMD is shot and there are no card faces on the drop targets. The Goldeneye at McArthur lanes is brutal now. DMD is almost gone, Satellite does not work and weak left flipper.

Any chance you could get Roch to fix his machines (or have you fix them). All his machines on location are in need of serious work even TZ.
Quoted from ethous
That's good to know that TZ is working great
I placed like 130hrs on that machine it came from alot deal and was almost destroyed.
I feel good that machine is working well.
Oh I got Roch to replaced the WW at CineStars with Addams Family

Played a Baywatch at Broken Q in Kanata today. Weak flippers but everything else was good. Also played a Sopranos at Mr. Mozzerlla on Woodroffe, it had very weak flippers and played very slow. The IJ4 at Silvercity is OOO.

Well time of year to start swaps i am slowly cleaning and fixing.
The TZ from Orleans has been shopped week flipper and proximity sensor now work now detects the powerball at ball launch still has a small issue the clock but parts on the way she plays nice again.
Machine is now at Cine Starz Promenade Shopping center.
Addams is now off root for total resto maybe out for a little while the PF has serious damage on it where you cant see it.
Appollo 13 and goldeneye are next but might not be back in circulation might just sell them off.

Life is like Pinball!! You never know where you will bounce or where your going but sometimes you have that one amazing shot But on the other hand you have those darn gutter ball where you just get frustrated.

Orleans Bowling
Addams Family being placed tomorrow.
Machine is 100% error free I placed more then 40 hours on this machine.
I was surprised to how many things where wrong when i picked it up from Cine Starz there was 15 error messages.
Had to change lots of springs i guess it is normal seeing machine has been rooted for 18 years.
Playfield is rough for my standards but she plays great.
We will keep eye out for a replacement playfield.
This is surprisingly our best money maker then it's the TZ then Simpsons.
Also on another note all henry machines once serviced and repaired will be at a new pricing.
1$ for 2 plays and 2$ for 5 plays.

Update(Machine should be sold from what i was told machine never went to location)
There should be a surprise for the location later in the week Will be a NIB

Geoff, each time you put a new machine in there, you deplete my cash flow. If you ever throw the Flinstones in there I will go bankrupt!!!
