A couple guys over on cgcc have inquired about keyed alike locks for all the pins/vids so I thought I would offer them here too

Quoted from "b1buwg97"
I can get these locks, $3.00 each, and cheaper if you order more than 15

SAME SIZE LOCKS CAN BE KEYED ALIKE i.e CL01 can all be the same but a CL01 won't work in a CL02 is what I was told.

$3.0US each  ****I will need to calculate shipping after all orders are in*****

I used to think I'd like to get keed-alike locks, but I've been picking up key fobs when I find a good deal on them and I kinda like have all the different keys and fobs displayed.

I end up fixing more and more pins these days, eventually selling them and I find I'm installing locks all the time, so I could use a supply. I dont care about having my personal machines all keyed alike. I just want a supply of locks to save me the constant home depo trip for one lock every time.

You know you can still have a whack of keys for the keyed alike That's what I do. All my keeper machines have the same key -- except LOTR, damn Stern cranked that lock on and I cann't remove it. Still have seperate key fobs for each machine.

Ok how bout this...

I'm too cheap to pay $3 a lock for 18 machines when the existing locks work just fine

Suggestion...

In Toronto, Jo-Van distributors, literally about 5 or 6 doors down from Starburst as you drive there is a lock distributor. I am pretty certain they will sell to the public. They have cam locks of all grades and key groups.

Where the hell is Bish during all this discussion about locks?

Hey Stan,

7/8" barrel locks (w/ 2 single bitted keys) each keyed different from Happ Controls part no. 30-3141-KD are $4.00 each plus tax at Starburst (Mtl & T.O. offices alike) By the way Stern gets them from Happ for all their new machines coming off the line.

Rob

Qty of  6 + can go to 3.50 per lock
Qty of 12 + can go to 3.25 per lock

Montreal office only - sorry.

I just use the Happ double-bitted locks from Starburst or whichever US company I am ordering stuff from online. The keys are a heck of a lot less apt to break than the Home Depot ones. Also the HD locks have a gold coloured bezel which looks crappy.

Also, I have coloured key tags from Office Depot (20 for about $5) and all keys are labelled and I even made a rack. The rack consists or a paint stir stick with a bunch of little brass hooks screwed into it.

For backbox locks, a black Sharpie helps restore the black anodized look.

Starting with IM, or maybe SM, Stern has switched door locks from the double bitted key (Happ p/n 30-3145-KD) to the less expensive single-bitted key lock (30-3141-KD). Every little bit helps when you still manufacturer in North America and people want to pay less for less.

Hang on for the big squeeze, we ain't seen nothing yet.

I just buy them from Pinball Resource.  All his locks are keyed alike....   It may cost a $1 or $2 more overall, but I just tack them onto an order that I'm making anyway...  very convenient and they are good quality locks.

But when you're buying 20 locks at once, $1 or $2 = $20 or $40. If you like giving away money, then that's great, but I'm pretty sure you don't.

I'm into this bulk buy for sure.

I must be missing the point here.  It really wouldn't be the first time.  If the locks I need are for home use(not on location) why would I need a $3 lock instead of a $1.89 lock???

http://www.twistedquarter.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=3&products_id=327

Is there something horribly wrong with the twisted quarter locks???

I also beleive that Eric(thunderstrorm) had some problems (at least with 1 of them) with the locks from China that B1 got for him.

Could some one please clarify.

Shipping 20 of the cheap Twisted Quarter locks to Canada will run you about $30. I would imagine doing the bulk buy from Terry would net you a better quality lock for less money.

I didn't say you were trying to make money Terry.   Just trying to save a buck where I can.  I'm cheap frugal.  Do you know approx. how much per lock with shipping (a good guess would suffice) if we all got together and bought 100 locks??????

Honestly no clue...

I am going to wait till all "orders" are in.... then see what shipping is- divide that total by the number of locks that will give me a per lock shipping total...

Then charge whatever that is times the number of locks ordered...

Wish I could check prices online for keyed alike from Starburst but alas, they only seem to list the keyed different locks.  As far as the 'special' page, I can't seem to find it or at least there is not locks listed on it.

Not everything is on-line, the flyer is at the counter and is mailed out to people with accounts, but you can always e-mail for prices on specific items.

Even through all the fog of this internet chatter, it still comes through that you have a sense of humour. In my opinion it is absolutely freakin' essential to get by these days. Being a part-time crazoid doesn't seem to hinder things either I think, - anyway, it seems to have worked for me so far.
